Banner Day Camp has been serving its community and low income families for 50 years. They will be celebrating this monumental golden year on July 4th, from 12 noon – 3 pm. They will not be charging a fee for entrance, instead they are encouraging donations to SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) Midwest for The Bradley Schwartz Campership Fund. Scope Midwest has been helping to raise funds for underprivileged children who cannot attend camp, since 1991. Over 15,000 camperships have been awarded to those children who otherwise could have been deprived of such an enriching and rewarding experience.

The Bradley Schwartz Campership Fund was created by loved ones in memory of Bradley Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz was Co-Founder of Banner Day Camp and passed away in 2011 from a battle with cancer. The fund provides a camping opportunity for families with financial hardship. Everytime Scope Midwest raises $500, another child gets to attend Banner Day Camp .They have successfully raised over $60,000 up to date. All donations should be considered an investment into our future. Today’s children are tomorrow’s adults, which is why the Banner Day Camp staff is well trained and truly care is important. It is a small investment with a huge profit.

Every child is treated equal. The Banner Day Camp staff is dedicated to being a part of the growth process of each individual child that attends the camp . Improvement of self-esteem, learning independence, team concepts, and developing strong bonds are just a portion of what children experience as campers. The staff helps them escape their current reality and teaches them how to embrace a new positive reality. Their talents are nurtured through the arts, sports and entertainment. Their facilities include the Bannerama, a dining hall, swimming pools and facilities for sports and performances. The staff also collaborates well with the parents to ensure the best quality development plan for each child.

The Banner Day Camp is holding the following Summer Day Camp sessions: 8 Week Session June 16 – August 8, 1st Session June 16 – July 11 and 2nd Session July 14 – August 8. They also offer an extended day program, which is ideal for the working parents, that extends their camp day until 5:30 pm. The children are fed meals and snacks throughout the day. A structured schedule is in place for all groups. The groups the children are placed in, according to their age, are: Junior Camp ( Pre -Kindergarten and Kindergarten), Senior Camp (1st – 3rd grade), Tween Camp (4th – 6th grade) and the CIT and SIT Camp (7th – 9th grade).
