Angela Stokes was morbidly obese when she decided her life needed to change. She weighed nearly three hundred pounds and she was miserable. When she was asked how she overcame obesity and lost over a hundred and sixty pounds, her response was simply…

Angela did this without doing anything extreme. She lost all of that weight and has kept it off (several years later) with very little more than a raw food diet.

With somewhere around 70% raw foods instead of the processed mainstream foods you might find at a grocery store, Angela lost over one hundred pounds in her first year alone, and that number climbed until she got to a healthy weight. It took nothing more than a new way of looking at food and a new approach to eating.

Before switching to a raw vegan lifestyle, Angela describes her relationship with food as “connected” in an immensely deep way; explaining that prior to changing her life she was eating everything processed that you can imagine.

She lists off the foods that filled her life, pizza, pasta, cookies, hot chocolate, etc., and proclaims to have been a “food addict” in the worst way.

Angela realized all that was needed was to fuel her body properly and remain active

After she began her raw food journey, Angela discovered that she actually had to do very little in order to lose the weight aside from fueling her body more efficiently and living her life in the most active way possible. “I do at least one thing a day,” remarks Angela. She goes on to talk about how yoga and gardening are huge aspects of her life that help shape her new body.

One hundred and sixty pounds and a decade or more later and Angela is in the most natural place possible enjoying her new body with her family and loves long walks in the hills near her house as well as working to help change the world with the power of food.
