Dish soap can be used for so many more chores than just dishes. It can be used for a lot of things around the home, following are some of my favorites:
Remove Stains
Oil based stains are one of the most difficult stains to remove, dish soap is an effective removers for such stains.
Mix dish soap with warm water (approximately 1 tablespoon to 2 cups) and blot the stain with the solution.
Wash Your Hair
Do you feel your hair is extra greasy in hot summer days? Dish wash is a grease fighter which will leave your hair squeaky clean. Use a few drops of dish soap and wash your hair thoroughly and follow up with shampoo.
Help With Hair Color Overload
If you’ve colored your hair at home and took it a few shades to dark, you can wash your hair with dish soap to lighten color.
Make Your Manicure Last Longer
There is a trick to make your manicure life longer: soak your fingers in a bowl of warm water and a few drops of dish soap, and dry your hands thoroughly before you add your polish.
Create A Great Bubble Bath
Use a few drops of dish soap and your favorite bath oil to pamper yourself with a wonderful bubble bath.
Lubricate The Hinges
Add a drop or two of dish soap to any hinge that’s making a sound when it shouldn’t. It works magic!
Wash Your Pet to Kill Fleas
Dish soap is a great way to get rid of fleas. Bathe your pet using a healthy amount of dish soap, which will dry out and kill the fleas.
Kill Weeds
Add a tablespoon of dish soap to a gallon of vinegar and a cup of salt to make a great weed killer solution. Spray the troublesome areas and watch weeds wither away.
Ice Pack
Fill a freezer sandwich bag with dish soap and freeze it completely to make an ice pack. Dish soap takes longer to melt than water.
Note: It’s recommended to use a natural dish soap, you can even make your own at home. This is the way to go if you want to stay away from the toxins of the commercial dish soaps.
This is the way how I make my dish soap:
What you have to prepare:
- 1/4 cup water
- 5 drops lemon essential oil (choose whatever you like, such as lavender, sweet orange or eucalyptus)
- 1/2 cup liquid castile soap (I use this kind)
Directions: Mix all three ingredients together and store in any type of bottle. And shake the bottle before use.
