HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW ABOUT GROUNDING?

The system where connection is electrically connected with the earth is termed as Grounding. A cover of static electric is build by the clouds during lighting storm. Due to this process opposite charges accumulates on the ground. More charges accumulates strongly in those particular objects which are actually isolated from the earth. Lightning may jump the gap of potential difference if the distance between the object and sky is comparatively far away from each other.

The process by which extra charges can be transferred from one object to another obviously of considerable size is known as Grounding. The extra charge transfers between the charged object and the ground during the process of grounding.

Due to various reasons electrical circuits can be connected to the ground. To avoid fatal accidents due to fluctuation of voltage, metal parts are kept in touch with the ground.

Often electrical advisers may advice you to have objects having grounded so that balancing remains well.

#1: What does Grounding do?

When you ground your appliance then four things may happen-

  1. To prevent from severe damage due to lighting, it drains the power which is accumulated.
  1. In case of severe lightning or building up of high charge, you can protect yourself by discharging the power through a safe path and can transfer it to the earth directly.
  1. This will also prevent you from high voltage shock and prevents your electronic appliances from getting damaged.
  1. It prevents the radio from having electrical hum due to motors, fluorescent lights, inverters etc.

A reliable company that provides with thunder protection for buildings can tell you more in this regard.

#2: SOME ADVISABLE PRACTICES FOR GROUNDING

1) BRANCH CIRCUIT GROUNDING-You have to replace the circuits of the equip-mental grounding system with the grounding system. Electronic equipments like computers etc needs to have a conductor of grounding to operate and protect for fluctuations of power and static electricity.

When you fail to apply equipment for conducting grounding. This may cause high-low voltage of electronic equipments or circuits for communication. These circuits are accident prone and can get damaged.

2) EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTER

It is always recommended that for relying on channel system equipments for grounding is highly needed. Hence to reduce impedance of circuits you need circuits of same size for better improvement of protective device.

For installation of grounding conductor equipment you need supplementary wires to gain special sensitive appliances.

3) GROUND RODS

Rods are used for grounding need to be spaced at minimum distribution which twice of the length of the rod. For more safety use rods, which are enhanced chemically with soil of poor condition.

4) GROUND RING

For prevention of accidents it is better to use ground rings made up of copper but for new industrial and commercial build ups and construction metal water piping can be used.  You can also use electrodes of concrete encased.

Installation of ground rings need to be placed everywhere around buildings. In case of low impedance of grounding you need to have ground rods at every corner of the structure and also at the middle point of the building.

5)ISOLATED GROUNDING TECHNIQUE-For preventing from sensitive noise entering equipments, isolated techniques of grounding need to be installed. The pin for grounding is non electrical and hence outlet for metallic box needs to be isolated.

6) LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM

To prevent accident you need to have highly efficient lightning protection system.  If compared in the grounds of maintenance and corrosion it is better than any other copper wire of lightning protection.

You should always install protection system of lightning of higher quality to prevent from hazardous electrode grounding system.
