Weight Loss Advice-When Someone Else Does The Cooking

A lot of people have been asking me for weight loss advice now that my book Goodbye Fatness, Hello Gorgeous! is out.  Sometimes they are in tricky situations that will lead to eating fattening food, or just overeating.  So from time to time, I am going to incorporate such questions into the articles.  Many of us share the same problems so a solution to one dilemma could be a major solution for others!

A situation one kind individual has is that she lives at home and someone else does the cooking.  Options are sometimes unhealthy and too plentiful!  Food is too tempting and overeating results.  What does one do?

There are many answers and options, but I think the best route is to cook for yourself.  Believe me, I would LOVE someone to do the cooking for me!  However, cooking for yourself has many benefits.  You know exactly what is in the food – no hidden fat.  For instance, vegetables can be healthy, but not with lots of butter and rich sauces on top.  You can control the quantity and the quality of food.  Do make sure you measure and not “eyeball” portion sizes.  They may be larger than you think!

Now that we established who does the cooking, we need to communicate this to the kind soul who is currently preparing the meals.  Everyone is different so one stock answer will not do.  With the utmost kindness and sincerity, express gratitude for all the efforts and reveal your new healthy eating approach.  Express your desire to try something new and to try your hand at healthy creations.  Then get to measuring and cooking! If you have no idea what to try, look at health websites or healthy recipe websites.  The library is full of great cookbooks that have decent recipes.  My book has a few as well.  Give it a try so you can get a better handle on the calories, fat, and nutrition overall.
