It is little wonder that so many people are interested in finding natural ways to treat their cancer rather than relying on what conventional medicine has to offer. Mainstream treatments, though greatly improved in recent decades, still revolve around some combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, all of which bring their own risks – and their own unwanted side effects.
Natural therapies, while still being investigated, apparently have the potential to help treat cancer without the risks and side effects of these conventional treatments. One such potential therapy comes from a plant that is little known in the West, but which has been called the “thunder god vine”, or “lei gong teng” in Chinese.
The Thunder God Vine and Cancer Treatment
Again, the thunder god vine is not a treatment which many in the West are familiar with, but in China, it has been used for centuries for treatment of many diseases, including serious chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. However, it is coming to be more well-known as a potential cure for cancer.
One preliminary study on laboratory mice with pancreatic cancer found, for instance, that mice who were treated with extracts of this plant for forty days presented with no trace of the cancer left by the end of the course of treatment.
After this preliminary study was conducted, other research on the thunder god vine emerged. One study was from the University of Minnesota, whose Masonic Cancer Center investigated the use of thunder god vine as a cancer treatment. This research, too, indicates that the plant has the ability to kill off cancer cells after a 40-day course of treatment. Moreover, there appears so far to be no unwanted side effects with this extract.
Potential Problems
The potential problem with cancer treatment with thunder god vine or other natural remedies is that the large pharmaceutical companies can often stand in the way of progress for economic reasons. As it stands now, with cancer being so widespread, these companies are making a huge profit from, for instance, chemotherapy and other similar drugs. Anti-cancer drugs are in fact some of the most expensive currently on the market.
So, research into new treatments like this often depends upon the willingness of a large company to invest in the clinical trials and development of a new drug or remedy and also of the willingness of the FDA to approve it for treatment. However, the interest of these large pharmaceutical companies is not always served by further investigation into these natural treatments, which are not expensive for people to obtain.
In conclusion, therefore, people who are interested in using thunder god vine or other treatments such as baking soda and lemon, often have to be empowered to do so under the guidance of a naturopath or other alternative practitioner. The key is to find someone who is interested not in profit but in helping those struggling with cancer have a full range of treatment options to choose from and not be restricted to just those choices which benefit large pharmaceutical companies.
