What is ACIDITY?

Acidity is a condition where your stomach secretes more HCl than normal. The stomach normally secretes acid that is essential in the digestive process. This acid helps in breaking down the food during digestion. When there is excess production of acid by the gastric glands of the stomach, it results in the condition known as acidity.

What Causes Your Body To Become Acidic?

Bad eating habits are the most common cause of acidity, not chewing food properly and not drinking adequate water. Eating junk food and spicy food can also be the causes of acidity. Eating too fast and eating on a bad mood can cause the acidity. Smoking, consumption of alcohol are common causes of acidity. Sometimes heavy meal can create acid too. But at the same time skipping breakfast and not eating for a long time can also cause acidity. Undisciplined eating habit and improper combination of foods can result acidity as well.

There are three main classification of the signs and symptoms of body acidity. These are classified in terms of stages.

Stage #1
The early acidic stage is when a person is just a little bit acidic. Sometimes, this is tolerable and may not progress to a lot more serious stage as well as signs and symptoms of body acidity.


Chest and head mucous, joint pains, hands and feet that are cold, dizziness, heartburn, metallic taste in the mouth, urine that is smelling strong, hyperactivity and muscular pain, fatigue, premenstrual tension, acne, panic attacks, diarrhea, constipation and headaches.

Stage #2
When there is no remission of the acidity occurred at the early stage, it can lead to the next stage which is the intermediate acidic stage.


Swelling or inflammation, impotence, cold sores, migraine headaches, viral infections, eczema, psoriasis, foggy brain and depression, memory loss, insomnia, bronchitis, cystitis, fungal infections, sinusitis, asthma and bacterial infections.

Stage #3
There are some cases that during the intermediate stage of body acidity, it is not given with proper attention. Because of this, it leads to the more complicated stage of body acidity which is called severe acidic stage.


Cancers, scleroderma, schizophrenia, tuberculosis, Hogkin disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, Chron disease and Multiple Sclerosis.


How to Neutralize An Acidic Body Naturally?

-Drink alkaline water. It contains essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which help alkalize your body. Research has shown that alkaline water can reduce bone loss in pre-menopausal women.

-Drink one or two glasses of organic apple cider vinegar and water daily. Mix one to two tablespoons of vinegar in eight ounces of water.

-Eat alkaline foods like most fruits and vegetables. They sustain the body’s pH on a daily basis.

-Increase your salivation. Studies suggest that increased salivation can neutralize stomach acid. You can increase your salivation by chewing gum or sucking on lozenges. Just make sure they’re sugar-free to prevent high calorie intake.

-Stress contributes to acid build-up so find ways to de-stress. Meditation, yoga, deep breathing and long walks are all great ways to de-stress and reduce acid levels.

-Exercise for at least 30 minutes three to five times a week. Among its many benefits, exercise helps counteract acidity in our bodies and sweat gives acid another pathway out of the body. Plus, it helps to oxygenate and alkalize your blood.
