What is fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a long-term (chronic) condition that causes widespread pain in the muscles, tendons and ligaments. It’s quite common – it’s thought that as many as 1 person in every 25 may be affected. It’s estimated that 5-10 million Americans suffer from fibromyalgia, and the majority of them are women.

The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but it’s thought to be related to abnormal levels of certain chemicals in the brain and changes in the way the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) processes pain messages carried around the body.

Some other home remedies for fibromyalgia

Epsom Salt
Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Soaking in an Epsom salt bath helps your body absorb magnesium. Fibromyalgia is often associated with magnesium deficiency. This soothing bath can also help reduce pain and induce relaxation.

Arthcare Oil
It helps to relieve joint pain, back aches, and muscular pain. This ointment strengthens bone tissue and penetrates into the body tissues faster. Since it is anti-inflammatory, it provides immediate relief and helps remove the stiffness from your joints, bones, and muscles.

Turmeric
Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can help treat fibromyalgia accompanied by rheumatic disease. It contains a compound called curcumin that also helps relieve pain and stiffness.

Camphor
Camphor helps in tightening muscles, thus reducing pain. Many people that suffer from backaches should try this. One can either use it in the form of oil by applying the camphor oil on the muscles or bones to relieve the pain or else the camphor oil can be eaten in other forms like coriander.

Ginger
Ginger, too, has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties that help reduce fibromyalgia symptoms.
