Plastic is a silent killer of human, wildlife and environment. Plastics are non-biodegradable, synthetic polymers of long chain hydrocarbons. Usually we don’t care about the packaging when we are buying a bottled water. Chemicals added to plastics are absorbed by human bodies and some of these compounds have been found to alter hormones and dangerous for our health.

To know how dangerous the plastic bottle actually is, check what is written on the bottom of each plastic package. Just look for a triangle with a number at the bottom, which can be form one to seven. These numbers indicate whether the product is safe or not for us.

7 SYMBOLS AND THEIR MEANING

#1 Triangle with number 1, the bottle is known as PET or PETE. These plastic bottles may have leaked metals and chemicals into the water that can change hormonal balance in your body.

#2 Triangle with number 2, the bottle is known as HDPE or HDP. This is a  safest and good plastic, for which is least probability for emissions of chemicals into the water.

#3 Triangle with number 3, the bottle known as V or PVC. This plastic releases two toxic chemicals, and both impact your hormonal balance in the human body. And it is still the most commonly used plastic for bottles.

#4 Triangle with number 4, the bottle is known as LDPE. This is also good plastic and most often used in water bottles and plastic bags. It does not release chemicals into the water.

#5 Triangle with number 5 the bottle known as PP. Another good plastic used for production of bottles in which are packed syrups or for yoghurt containers. Their white color makes them recognizable, but they can be transparent, as well.

#6 Triangle with number 6, the bottle known as PS. It’s usually used when producing coffee cups and fast food packaging and known as Styrofoam. it is known to be carcinogenic because it emits STIREN. This plastic emits the carcinogenic substance STYRENE in the water.

#7 Triangle with number 7 is known as PC plastic. You should avoid using these bottles because the plastic emits BPA, a very harmful chemical and also an endocrine disruptor. Unfortunately, it is used for infants, sports bottles and containers for food storage.

Conclusion:

Plastic bottles labeled with letters like HDP, HDPE, PP and a few others, do not release any toxic material in the water, and the remaining letters can represent the chemicals found in the water you are drinking.
