Natural Remedies for Diabetes Mellitus


Diabetes Mellitus is the most common type of diabetes. It’s primary cause is a drop in the levels of insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. The lack of insulin results in body sugar and starch build-up. If left unchecked, it may lead to convulsions and even coma.

Type 1 diabetes :

Diabetes mellitus is also known as type 1 diabetes or juvenile diabetes. This is caused by an autoimmune action in the body which leads to the destruction of insulin producing cells in the pancreas.

There are many treatments for diabetes mellitus. To list a few:

  1. Insulin injections: People with type 1 diabetes can use insulin injections to cover up for the lack of insulin in their bodies.
  2. Oral medication: These pills help control the blood sugar levels but, they only work for people whose bodies still produce insulin; just not enough of it.
  3. People with type 2 diabetes may require a combination of the two treatments mentioned above or may only use the injections.

Natural treatments for diabetes mellitus:

While one might have use medication initially to control the blood sugar levels, it possible to switch to natural remedies one the blood sugar is stable in order to maintain it. Many studies have shown that herbal therapies can improve the blood sugar levels and help control them.   • Green tea: Known for various other benefits, green tea, apart from burning fat and decreasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases also helps regulate blood glucose.
  • Okra: This herb can be called a “super food” for people suffering from diabetes. Many studies show that Okra has blood glucose lowering properties. Roasted okra seeds have been used by the Turkish as medication for diabetes since generations.

Diabetes mellitus can become a dangerous disease if you do not treat it and observe the necessary precautions. Herbs and natural remedies have been known to cure all the symptoms of diabetes as compared to the medication which only takes care of the blood glucose levels.

Natural remedies also have no side effects and can be included as part of your daily diet. Medications like injections and pills can harm your body, especially your liver.
