We had a very lovely Christmas and enjoying all the quality family time we could squeeze in while the oldest two are home for college. Then my husband came down with a terrible cold that turned into a full blown flu. Man down, but I’m pretty tough and decide I’m not going down. I drink my antioxidant Sozolife Coffee each morning so my immune systems pretty ramped up. However, the sniffles soon turn into a runny nose that is more like a faucet than a nose. After using every kleenex in the house and looking like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, I decide I have to make it stop. I google “How to Stop a Runny Nose” and review a dozen natural remedies and decide to do them all! I’m desperate. I combine them all into a tea and I’m not even joking, it worked like a miracle. I’m a big believer already in natural remedies but this one totally shocked me. I hadn’t been able to stop my nose from dripping for 3 days straight and within 30 minutes of drinking this tea, it totally stopped.
What surprised me even more about the concoction was after I had some, I immediately brewed up another batch and gave it to my younger son who was coughing and has a fever. He hates anything that tastes “weird”. He drank it right up and said, “It doesn’t even taste Yucky, it’s nice and sweet”. Miracle number two and right now he’s sleeping like a baby.
So what all did I throw into Moms Miracle Tea aka How to Stop a Runny Nose:
1/4 – 1/2 tsp garlic (I used crushed from the jar)
1/4 – 1/2 tsp ginger (jar or fresh slices)
1/2 – 1 tsp honey (to taste)
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tea bag for flavoring (I used Caffeine Free Orange spice)
I simply threw it all (but the tea bag) in my mug and microwaved it for 1 minute. Then added the tea bag and let it brew for a couple of minutes. The garlic and ginger settle to the bottom but for kids you might want to strain it out before serving. Viola! You will thank me for this one. Now, I use to make a simple drink called a Hotty Toddy for colds that was lemon, honey, boiling water and a little bit of whiskey for sore throats or colds. Hey don’t judge me, if they can smoke marijuana in Colorado, I can spike my cold remedies with a little moonshine, right?
I’d love to hear from you if you try this tea. Also do you have any other favorite remedies for colds? Let us know in the comments below! Share How to Stop a Runny Nose with your friends and co-workers and we will save trees.
