Make Those Early Mornings Incredible With A Short Treadmill Workout

How you start your morning, tends to set the tone for the rest of your day. Energy flows from start to end and stays the same unless something major comes to change it. Take charge of your morning and most importantly your day by adding in a quick treadmill workout before you head out.

So many mornings tend to start off with us dragging ourselves out of the bed to face the day. The next time you roll over, toss on some workout gear and hop up on your treadmill to help change your mood, improve your focus and get a good start to your day.

Benefits of Morning Workouts

If walking is great way to keep the doctor away, image what a quick treadmill run will do. Walks are nice and peaceful early in the day. They get your blood flowing a little bit, but a treadmill workout can wake you up in a whole new way and has great lasting benefits.

  • Boosts Your Metabolism – Waking up naturally and jumping on a treadmill to work on cardio, puts your body in high gear early morning. Once you’re done, your body will keep working throughout the day to burn fat. Your metabolism is at rest when you sleep and if you wait until the end of the day to workout, you’ve missed out on some extra fat burning opportunities.
  • All Day Energy – Once your blood starts flowing, oxygen flow increases and you become more alert. Although your heart rate goes down once you’re done, your body is still working and energized. The increased blood flow to your brain and healthy meal choices throughout the day will keep you feeling motivated to tackle anything during the day.
  • Freedom – As much as you love fitness, sometimes the thought of working out after a long day seems a bit dreadful. If you adjust your sleeping to still get eight solid hours, wake up earlier than you used to and push out a killer treadmill workout, the rest of your day is free. This will give you time to do more things you love or just relax at home.

Sample Workout

I’ve provided a sample workout to get you started on your new fitness journey. Always be sure to warm up after you wake up to get your muscles and joints loosened. The time column lets you know how long you should be running for. The speed column offers three numbers for beginners, intermediate and advanced runners, respectively. The percentage in the incline column represents where your incline should be. You close out with one fast sprint to really set the tone for your day.

Warm Up
Time Speed Incline
2 minutes 5/6/7
1 minute 6/7/8
1 minute 6/7/8 2%
30 seconds 7/8/9 2%
1 minute 6/7/8 2%
30 seconds 7/8/9 2%
1 minute 6/7/8 2%
30 second sprint 8/9/10 2%
Cool Down
1 minute 4/5/6 0%

After you finish your treadmill workout, take a nice shower and grab a healthy breakfast to refuel your body for the upcoming day. You should be feeling upbeat, energized and ready to take on the world.
