Nowadays, more and more Americans are turning to natural cures than ever before. There are reasons: you can get better naturally without harmful antibiotics or chemical drugs that only mask symptoms. Besides, you can avoid the side effects of these conventional medicine which will damage your resistance.

If you are suffering from cough or bronchitis (main symptoms include cough too, as well as wheezing, burning and chest pain), here following is one of the most popular and most effective ways – the “golden remedy”! You can make this remedy with cabbage leaves and honey:

Ingredients:

  • One whole cabbage
  • Raw, organic honey

Directions:

Separate a leaf from the cabbage. Put the separated leaf in hot water for a few minutes. Put honey on one side of the leaf once it becomes soft and tender.

Put the honey side on your chest. Put a plastic bag over the cabbage and rap a towel or a scarf around your chest covering the plastic bag.

If you have a severe cough then you should prepare 2 cabbage leaves. Put one on the chest and one on the back. Take out the cabbage leaves in the morning and clean the remains of honey with a wet towel or wash them off.

If the bronchitis is in an early stage, there will be visible results after one treatment. The treatment is repeated in a period of 5-7 nights and soon there will be no signs of the cough.

How it works

The active ingredients in the honey and cabbage combined with heat, contribute to the reduction of cough, and the disappearance of the inflammatory process.

Note:

1) For a better result, do this before you go to sleep.

2) There are no age restrictions, both kids and adults can benefit from this treatment.

3) You can use warm castor oil instead of honey in this remedy, and you will recieve the same effect.

Other natural remedies to treat cough:

Essential oils including black pepper, cardamom, cedar wood, cypress, Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata, frankincense, Helichrysium, lemon, peppermint, pine, rosemary and sandalwood may all help.

Other herbs include garlic, onions, lavender, thyme, linseed, nettle and dock. Still others are carrots, turnips, comfrey, balm, glycerin.

Mullein tea is also a popular remedy for treating bronchitis. Drink a cup three times a day to soothe membranes.

An herbal chest rub can also bring relief. Mix 10 drops each of eucalyptus essential oil, peppermint essential oil, and thyme or rosemary essential oil. Add this to one fourth cup of olive oil and gently massage into the throat and chest area.

Horehound, elecampane, horsetail, and hyssop are also good for lung conditions. They can be made into syrups to soothe irritation and to heal lung damage.
