Ginger is great soother for the digestion, good for inflammation and nausea. With this recipe, you’ll be able to make this tonic at home.
GINGER SYRUP RECIPE
4 cups of water
8-10 pieces of ginger root, peeled and chopped into small pieces
1-2 cups of sugar
1/2 vanilla bean split open lengthwise
1/2 lemon, sliced
Decoct the ginger first: Boil water in saucepan, add ginger pieces, vanilla, reduce heat and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Take off heat.
Stir in sugar to dissolve, add lemon, cover and let it stand at least 30 minutes until room temperature. Strain and refrigerate. This will keep about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
Makes about 4 cups. Can take an ounce 1-2x a day, or Use to flavor drinks; hot teas or cold beverages or add to smoothies!
Options: add fresh or powdered Turmeric for more inflammation power
Or Crushed Garlic for colds or flu fighting capability
Or Grated Horseradish Root for sinus infections and colds,or to get rid of mucous buildup.
