Fit and Fabulous after 40

The old adage goes that ‘life begins at 40’. We have had time to sort our baggage out, raise our kids, get ahead in our careers….you get the general idea. We are sorted right?

Well we may have some if not all of the above sorted out, and fair play to you if you have, but I have found with my work as a Personal Fitness Trainer that the price we pay is very often our health and fitness.

And once we hit that magical big 40 we seem to give up on the idea of getting our bodies back again or finding that all elusive fitness gene that we surely were born without.

We seem to accept that the ever growing number of aches and pains are just part of the process of getting older – I mean we all creak and groan when we first get out of bed in the morning don’t we? We seem to accept that our health may be less than perfect at this stage in our lives. Diabetes, weight problems, arthritis and the myriad of other potential health problems are just a right of passage into old age.

Well, I’m here to tell you that this notion of slowing down, of losing flexibility, of feeling like an pile of weary old bones is wrong. There I’ve said it – ‘ITS WRONG’.

40 is not old, never was, never will be. 40 is middle age at best. If humans are designed to live until 120 (as reports and studies have shown) well 40 isn’t even middle age – it is still young. So, why in our youth would we expect to slow down and get ill?

No, I believe that these years should be some of the best years of your life. Having got through the hard days of babies, toddlers and small children, having worked your way up the career ladder, achieved the house and the nice car and all the other ‘standards’ by which we mark our successs. Now it should be your time to shine. Your time to indulge in all the things you put off whilst you were achieving your success.

Now is not the time that you want your health to fail you. It is not the time when your levels of fitness preclude you from achieving your hearts desire. Now is the time when you want to be jumping out of bed in the morning raring to go.

It is for this reason that I decided to set up the ‘Fit, Fab, 40 Club’ so that I could help people (like me) who want don’t want to be beholden to their bad health.

At the age of 45 I am fitter than I have ever been and am pushing my boundaries by training for a series of ULTRAmarathons – as well as habouring a secret (well not so secret now) desire to enter a ‘fitness competition’……more of that another day!

I want to share my enthusiasm with you, to help you achieve your goals and to have the health that each and everyone of us deserves.

The Fit, Fab, 40 Club is the space that I have created to do exactly that. I post new workouts every week – a 12 week transformation programme for beginners and those coming back to exerices after a break together with an intermediate based workout. I also post my own daily workouts for you to follow if you wish.

I share tonnes of recipes – both cooked and raw vegan that are simple and easy to prepare and can be incorporated into a ‘mixed food’ household with ease if others in your house aren’t immediately drawn to a healthy diet. (Trust me they soon will be once they taste these recipes 🙂 )

There are videos, tips on ways to relax (an important factor in health living) natural skin care recipes, daily blog updates and my exercise and food journal. Also a closed facebook group so you can ask as many questions as you want and we can all share our successes.
I want to create a ‘revolution of fitness’ for women (and men) after 40. To show them that it doesn’t matter where the starting point is, with motivation, dedication and inspiration we can all attain the health we are after.

I am looking forward to sharing more about good health and fitness with Natural News readers and hope to see some of you at the FF40 Club as well.
