What to eat to be healthy and fit

Today, I felt motivated to make some more subtle changes to my diet. The desire here is to cleanse more and reduce cravings for sugar, and whatever other side benefits come about based on these changes.

While I do not define myself in any way in terms of eating, what I intend to eat to become even healthier borrows many ideas from a raw vegan diet, mono-eating, vegetarianism, and even the SAD diet! That’s right! 🙂

I am not going to create any specific rules with this diet change. I am certainly not going to count any calories, or measure carbs or fats or protein. It is going to be simple, and based a lot on what I am craving.

A few things though that feel right to me is to eat simply, and allow time for proper digestion and assimilation. For that reason, I will have multiple “meals” in a day… meals that may consist of one fruit for example (i.e. mono eating). Lately I have been craving pomegranate seeds! Yum! I will eat 4 or 5 in one sitting. Delicious!

What to eat to be healthy and fit

Here goes. This is what I feel will help me to become more healthy and fit. Perhaps you will feel the same!

I will probably start every day with a green smoothie. My all time favourite includes:

– a ton of spinach and/or kale
– OJ and/or water
– frozen blueberries
– a banana
– some chia seeds for good fats

I will be reducing fruit juices (except in the smoothie) and dried fruits during this “phase” in my diet, but still consuming as many fruits as I feel the desire to.

On occasion I will be juicing some greens as well. My juicer broke recently so I will be using a blender and nut milk bag to make the juice. More than likely I will be juicing things like dandelion greens, romaine lettuce, celery, kale and some “wild” foods if I can manage. Probably not altogether though, we’ll see.

I feel the need for some probiotics, so I will be using milk and/or water kefir for that, plus some raw sauerkraut. In addition, I will be supplementing with Vega products each day which has a fair share of probiotics as well. Check out Vega HERE

Other supplements will include vegan DHA oil, chlorella and high quality Vitamin D and B12 supplements. Also, I will be taking some chaga and/or reishi mushroom tinctures and bovine colostrum for the long chain polysaccharides (and the “completeness” that colustom provides).

I will by frying eggs in coconut oil as well. Combined with that I will be adding turmeric and black pepper for the many health benefits and delicious-ness that they provide.

A variety of herbs/spices I intend to include are: ginger, turmeric as mentioned, cinnamon, cilantro, dill, and cayenne pepper.

More than that, I will be just snacking on simple fruits and veggies throughout the day.

On weekends though, I will put zero thought into what is healthy and what isn’t. It will be anything-my-heart-desires every weekend. Good thing though, my heart desires salads for the most part 🙂 I might have the odd hummus or chicken wrap though, not going to lie!

This will be very cleansing for me… perhaps “too” cleansing which can be uncomfortable… so I will be going to get colonics done once or twice per month. I will remain on this “diet” for a minimum of 6 months to see the changes it offers. I am excited!!

Woot! 🙂
