Coughs are just terribly uncomfortable all around, both physically and otherwise. But what can you do for relief if you don’t like medicine tablets? One of the best holistic medicines for a cold or sore throat is pineapple.

Why Pineapple?

Pineapples contain vitamin C, manganese, and something known as bromelain, an enzyme that fights inflammation. It prevent unhealthy blood clots and improve digestion. It has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Together, these components can sooth a cough by calming the airways and fighting infection.

Other Ingredients Benefits

Honey

It found that honey can work more efficiently to calm a cough than over-the-counter drugs. It is a rich demulcent, with a high viscosity and stickiness that does an incredible job of coating and soothing those irritated mucous membranes.

Ginger

Ginger works as an expectorant, helping loosen and expel mucous from the lungs. It can also stop the painful tickle at the back of throat that can trigger a cough if the first place, if you are experiencing a dry cough.

Cayenne Pepper

Despite its tendency to sting, cayenne is also an analgesic that reduces the sensation of pain by blocking Substance P, a component that transmits sensation to the brain. If you’re coughing because your throat tickles or hurts, drinking cayenne tea can desensitize the tickling and reduce coughing.
