All of us want a life without diseases. But overtime, toxins build up in our body – through the lifestyle and environment we live in and even naturally by over-secretion of hormones. These toxins cause different illnesses when they hang around for a long time in our body, some of which may even be fatal. So, detoxifying should be in your ‘to-do’ list besides hitting the gym or some exercise routine for a healthy you.

And when it comes to detox, green tea is the first choice for many because of the effectiveness and easy availability of the beverage. Loaded with benefits  from antioxidants and different nutrients, green tea helps in removing harmful toxins from your body. The tea actually doesn’t detox you rather it helps improve your bodily functions, helping your organs to function better and more efficiently.

Following are the ways to detox oneself with the use of green tea. These ways are only effective when full organic green tea is used. And also don’t add sugar, for it might lessen the effect of the tea or might even cause negative effect.

Make a detox schedule

Taking just a cup or two of green tea is not enough. Initiating a green tea diet plan is a must for detoxification process. It’s best to drink a cup of green tea in the morning after having your breakfast and at night before going to bed. You can drink green tea throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated. You can also find a green tea recipe that is easy and convenient to make, on the Internet.

Most importantly, patience is the key to success. It might take weeks for the detoxifying to work so make up your mind and stick to the plan.

How much green tea to drink?

There’s no actual limit to how much green tea is needed for detoxification. Your body works overtime while removing toxins from kidneys and colon. So, it all depends upon an individual’s capacity of drinking tea. But be sure not to cause stress and uneasiness to oneself by excessive drinking.

Limiting the number of tea cups per day to 8-10 cups is advised by expert because the tea contains tannins, more of which can weaken iron and folic acid absorption capacity of the body, resulting in other health problems. Although there is less caffeine in green tea compared to other beverages, excess green tea might cause insomnia as well.

Make adjustments to your lifestyle

If you are living an unhealthy lifestyle, then it’s time to change that. In order to detoxify yourself, replace your unhealthy beverages and food with a nutritional balanced diet.

Drinking green tea will not work if you don’t make changes to your unhealthy lifestyle. Eating and drinking the right and healthy food might be all you need to live a healthy and detox life, as said by Dr. Mark Hyman, MD in this video.
