David Wolfe Discusses Cellular Relief that Comes with Raw Food Diet

This is a transcript of a conversation with David Wolfe about the benefits of raw food, recorded on the April 25, 2012 episode of Mental Health Exposed.

Mike Bundrant: We’re talking about the connection between raw food and even raw chocolate and mental health. We’ve got a couple of fabulous guest experts on the show today: Steve Adler and David Wolfe of Sacred Chocolate, raw food giants who have really, really helped put the raw food industry on the map.

It’s been my observation that people who are raw foodists, and I’m not one by the way – I eat a lot of raw food but I don’t consider myself a “raw foodist.” But every raw foodist I have met has a lot of compassion and they seemed very happy, and I want to ask these two guys what’s the connection? What’s going on? What are most people missing?

David Wolfe: Thank you so much. It’s always a pleasure to be able to get this message out and both Steve and I are just been in love with the message that we have and so it’s been always a great privilege to share it, just share the joy.

Mike Bundrant: Now let’s talk about raw food for a moment. This is a show on mental health, obviously, and some people may be wondering what the connection is. But it’s not a stretch for me because even though I’m not a raw foodist, I do try to eat tons of fruits and vegetables. But I’ve hung out a lot with raw foodists and I’ve got to tell you that I’ve never met one that didn’t seem exceptionally happy. Now, is it just me or are you on to something?

David Wolfe: Great question. Well, happiness for no reason is actually legal – at least I think it is.

Mike Bundrant: Careful, now – don’t assume so much!

David Wolfe: Yeah, I know. I’m probably overstepping a line there. But that’s the power of raw food; it’s like that. You feel such a relief in your body. It’s a cellular relief. It’s like, “Oh my god, we don’t have to deal with pizza anymore. We don’t have to deal with all these heavy, cloggy, gluey stuff.”

And so there’s just this joy that comes through and that joy is like, it’s the unbearable lightness of being. I mean that’s the only way I can really describe it. You just feel an absolute relief and over the years it just becomes part of your normal way of doing things. You just are in that natural state all the time.

And so eventually, in my opinion, raw food will find its way into the hearts and minds of all those people who are very personality driven like talk show hosts, actors, actresses, people who really have to shine that light and that’s part of what they do, part of what they have to do. Raw foods, it naturally gravitates to those people.

It is also just scientific in terms of the availability of nutrients. For so long we didn’t get the nutrients in the form that nature intended. And then you get the raw foods and it’s like, “Oh, this is the way nature intended it.”

So, getting nutrients you weren’t getting before changes your metabolism, your energy level and eases the toxic load on the body. From there, it is much easier to be happy!
