How To Have Beautiful Hair Naturally

Want to have gorgeous hair naturally? Unfortunately most hair care products contain harsh and artificial ingredients which can strip and damage hair even further. Many hair dryers also emit high levels of electromagnetic field radiation which may be best avoided.  Here are a few tips to help you achieve luscious locks the natural way.

The Dangers Of SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) Shampoo

The majority of commercial shampoos contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) which is effective when it comes to creating a rich lather and removing dirt and oil from your hair. Unfortunately SLS is extremely harsh (it’s often used as an ingredient in household cleansers) and can strip hair of its natural oils leading to dry scalp and dandruff.

Instead look for a shampoo that is sulfate-free. It should generally state on the label if the shampoo is SLS-free. Also read the label to see if sodium lauryl sulfate is listed as an ingredient. It may take a while to get used to a SLS-free shampoo since they tend to produce less foam and lather but the end result is much healthier hair.

Avoid Frequent Shampooing If Possible

Excessive shampoo can end up drying your hair. Try using a “dry shampoo” between shampoos in order to keep your hair smelling fresh. Dry shampoos are available in a spray or powder form and work to absorb excess oil. You can also use organic cornstarch in lieu of commercial dry shampoos; it’s all natural and super affordable.  Simply apply at the roots and anywhere else your hair is oily. You can also add in a pinch of cocoa powder to mask the white color of cornstarch, if you have darker hair or roots.

Use A Low-EMF Hair Dryer

Many household items, including hair dryers emit electromagnetic field radiation. Despite the fact that scientists have not conclusively linked  EMF exposure to ill health, some experts still believe that there may be risk with long term exposure. In order to minimize the chances of adverse affects you may want to opt for a low-EMF hair dryer. The EMF ratings of blow dryers can be tested independently with an EMF tester.

Nourish Your Hair With Natural Oils

If your hair is dry or damaged opt for natural oils instead of commercial conditioners and treatments which may contain a lot of artificial ingredients. Argan oil is a natural moisturizer which can be applied to damp hair in order to add luster and shine. Coconut contains vitamin E and lauric acid and penetrated the hair in order to minimize frizz and increase shine.

Avocado oil contains a high amount of fatty acids and contains vitamin A, D and E which work to nourish damaged hair. Jojoba oil can be used to treat dandruff since it has antibacterial properties. Want to reduce hair breakage? Try applying sunflower oil. This light oil makes a great conditioner for softer hair which is less likely to break.
