Ants, these tiny, annoying creatures may cause damage to our health when they are raiding your kitchen. Most of time, using poest control is the immediate solution when under ants attack, while this is not a healthy method, as the harmful chemicals may also bad for us.
Luckily, there are some ways are all natural, they require no any harmful pesticides. And following these reipes are easy to make, they are also incredibly cheap:
Ant Away Spray with Essential Oils
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup purified water
- 15 drops peppermint essential oil
- 15 drops tea tree essential oil
- 7 drops lemon essential oil ( or orange essential oil)
Instructions:
Pour these ingredients in a small spray bottle and shake to make them mix well.
Everytime you use the essential oil spary, shake the bottle, then spray around the places where you’ve seen the ants. Repeat spreading the spary for some days and you will find all ants are gone.
Vinegar Spray to Get Rid of Ants
The smell of vinegar repels ants effectively, makes it a good ingredient to keep ants away from your kitchen.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 20-30 drops of tea tree essential oil( or peppermint essential oil)
Put all of the ingredients into a spray bottle and shake the bottle. Spray around every points where you’ve seen ants.
Keep Ants Out By Using Baking Soda & Powdered Sugar
Mix with equal amounts of baking soda and powdered sugar, sprinkle the mixture at the entry points of the ants. Ants like the sugar while the baking soda will kill them.
Orange Peel Spray
Peel 2-3 oranges and place the peels in the blender pitcher, add a quarter cup of warm water. Cap the blender and puree the peels and water on high for 2 minutes. Keep adding more water until you get an easily poured liquid. Transfer the liquid to a spray bottle, then spray around the entry points for ants.
Besides these simple recipes, there are many other easy methods to get rid of ants:
Chalk line – The calcium carbonate in the chalk creates a barricade which can prevent the ants. Draw a line around the entry points anywhere you’ve seen ants.
Coffee grounds – Don’t throw your coffee grounds next time, especially when you are bothering with the ants. Ants don’t like the smell of coffee. So you can put the coffee grounds at the entry points of ants to keep them away.
Alcohol – Mix the equal amount of water and alcohol in a spray bottle, spray the mixture at the entrance points to keep the ants out.
Cinnamon – Powedered cinnamon is effective to get rid of ants, simply sprinkled some on their entry points will help you. Other herbs such as clove, black pepper and garlic are also extremely useful.
