As all of us known, water pollution, air pollution and soil pollution are the three main pollutions which can lead to toxicity within our bodies, and the unhealthy junk food and drinks we consume put a lot of load in our bodies too, all of these may cause serious physical and mental issues.
A high level of toxins in the body can lead to several diseases:
-Fatigue and weakness
-Digestive problems
-Headaches
-Skin issues
-Muscle and joint pain
-Infections
-Cancers
So it’s essential that we understand the importance of detox. Detoxification protects you from diseases caused by the toxins and promotes overall health. There are lots of ways to maintain a clean balance such as exercise regularly, quit some bad habits (including drinking and smoking) and make healthier choices in foods, you can do it simply by eating the right foods, here are some foods you can eat to cleanse your body:
- Avocados
This is such a great food for you to eat because avocado is packed with antioxidants, including glutathione, which detoxes your body by transporting the harmful chemicals and toxins outside of it. Plus, its fiber content (one medium avocado contains around 10g) helps in detoxification.
- Garlic
Using garlic for detoxing the body is an ancient practice, the high quantities of sulfur in garlic makes it an excellent detox food. Sulfur promotes detoxification by increasing production of glutathione, which helps filter toxins and harmful chemicals outside from the digestive system, and some other foods with rich sulfur are including eggs, beverages, onions and nuts, this mineral helps fight harmful bacteria and yeast in the intestines as well.
- Cabbage
Cabbage is another affordable great food for detoxing, it’s filled with sulfur too, as well as glucosinolates, which is essential to break the harmful chemicals and toxins and clean them from your body, and this super vegetable also provides rich fiber to aid in the digestion process and regulates bowel movements which helps your body get rid of the toxins.
- Green tea
Green tea is being considered as the least processed tea and thus provides the most antioxidant polyphenols, notably a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which can help the body get rid of free radicals effectively. And the antioxidants improve liver functions too, which is essential for detoxification.
- Broccoli
Broccoli, this super cruciferous vegetable contains more calcium than a glass of milk and has more vitamin C than an orange. In addition to the minerals and vitamins, it’s full of antioxidants, which can cleanse your body, specifically works with the enzymes in your liver to turn toxins into something your body can eliminate easily. So try to add broccoli into your plate, and for higher level of nutrients and better health value, choose raw broccoli. Remember, don’t microwave it as this may destroy its detox potential.
- Beets
It’s important to make sure that the harmful chemicals and toxins you’re getting out to actually make it out of your body when you’re detoxing, beets can do this because they can boost the body’s cellular intake of oxygen and they are enriched in betaine and pectin, which protect your digestive system and the liver to cleanse the body.
