3 Face Mask Recipes to Make Using Turmeric

Turmeric, long valued for its medicinal properties in the East, has also received a fair amount of attention in West as people there discover its amazing medicinal properties that can help treat everything from cancer to arthritis to Alzheimer’s. Its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties continue to amaze as more and more research is gathered on it. And, of course, it adds a wonderful color and flavor to curries and other dishes. What many people do not know, however, is that this golden spice can be used topically as well and it has the power to give you healthy, glowing skin. Three simple recipes for turmeric masks are given below.

Honey-Turmeric-Milk Mask

Ingredients :

  • ¼ tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. honey

Mix the ingredients into a paste, apply it to your face with your fingertips and let it set for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off and drying.

The antioxidant properties of turmeric will promote younger-looking skin while the honey will nourish and hydrate as it also helps reduce the appearance of age spots and kills the bacteria which are responsible for acne breakouts. Milk is also good for shrinking pores and reducing free radical damage to the skin as well as gently smoothing and exfoliating skin that is rough.

Yogurt-Turmeric-Avocado Mask

Ingredients :

  • ¼ tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbsp. mashed avocado
  • 1 tsp. yogurt

Mash avocado until smooth then blend in yogurt and turmeric and stir until smooth. Apply to your face with gentle, circular motions and allow it to set on your skin for 5 minutes, then rinse and pat dry.
Apart from its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, the avocado is rich with fatty acids and a great source of Vitamin E for smooth and healthy skin. Like turmeric it has antioxidant properties which reduce skin cell damage. The yogurt’s B-Vitamin complex and zinc will nourish your skin.

Lemon-Honey-Turmeric Face Mask

Ingredients :

  • ¼ tsp. turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. honey

Blend all ingredients together in mixing bowl, adding a dash of rice flour if mixture appears to be too runny. Using your fingertips, apply the mask to your face in a single layer and allow it to set for 10-15 minutes. Rinse as usual and pat dry.

Again, the turmeric works to keep your skin firm and youthful-looking, while the honey nourishes and moisturizes it. The lemon juice is a natural astringent which tightens pores, kills bacteria and lightens your skin.

So as you can see, making your own at-home, all-natural masks takes only minutes to complete. Better still, these masks often just use ingredients that you probably already have around the home, so it is inexpensive and no further shopping is required. However, you will find that these simple masks will leave you with glowing, radiant skin which is naturally hydrated and beautiful.
