Fresh lemons – 1 to 2
Warm water – 1 cup
A pinch of salt


Take the fresh lemons
Squeeze the juice of lemon in warm water
Add pinch of salt in it
Mix it well so that the intensity of lemon flavor will be lowered & also you will get the fluids that your body needs
Drink or sip it slowly until it gets completed.
This process has to be followed in every morning to get relief from the constipation and also make sure to follow this process occasionally after you get cured from this constipation to avoid its recurrence.


Prunes or prune juice is one of the most popular remedy for constipation. It acts as a natural laxative as it contains high amount of fiber and sorbitol. This sorbitol softens the stools because it is a natural carbohydrate that is not easily ingested. It will draw a lot of water as this passes through the intestine and finally adds bulk to the stool. This also causes the gas problem and makes the stool too soft so be careful while following this remedy and take the extract quantity for effective results.


2 – 3 glasses of prune juice


Drink one glass of prune juice early in the morning & one at the night time which helps to get relief from the constipation.
It will start doing its woks within few hours.
One glass passes through your intestine before attempting to drink another glass.
Or you can eat the prunes instead of drinking its juice.
Take it regularly but overdose will harm your body.

Flaxseed Oil with Orange Juice:

Flaxseeds contain high amount of fiber and can be recognized as bulk – forming herbal laxative. This draws the water into stools and makes it larger, softer and easier for the bowel movement to pass out of the body. It sorts of coats the walls of the intestine & stool, which increases the number of bowel movements you are having. Flaxseed oil – 1 tablespoon
Orange juice with pulp – 1 glass (i.e., 8 oz.)

Drink it whenever you feel necessary.
But make sure that to give time gap of at least 5 hours to it to start work & don’t overdo it.


Blackstrap molasses has been a sweet savior for more than a few sufferers of constipation, be it chronic or occasional. The reason blackstrap molasses works so well is because of how it is made. Regular molasses is essentially pure cane sugar juice boiled to concentrate and crystallize the sugar. The third boiling results in blackstrap molasses, which is crystallized but contains significant amounts of vitamins and minerals, specifically magnesium, which is what helps the constipation. It’s natural, tasty, and while you thank goodness someone decided to repeatedly boil a bunch of sugar, your body will thank you for the natural remedy.

You will need…
-1 teaspoon of blackstrap molasses
-warm water or tea (optional)

Consume one teaspoon of blackstrap molasses. Start slow and small here-if you don’t like the flavor of molasses, you can add it to a cup of warm water or tea to dilute the taste. If you find that a teaspoon has not been effective, you can go as high as 1-2 tablespoons, but try less at first.

Olive Oil:

Olive oil is a healthy and tasty less fat oil that helps to stimulate the digestive system which further helps to get the things moving through your colon. If it is taken regularly, it helps to prevent the constipation & improves your health too. Here in this process lemon juice acts as a natural aid for constipation and this also helps to get extra benefit of flavor.


Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
Lemon juice (optional) – 1 teaspoon


Early in the morning, consume one tablespoon of olive oil, as it works best on an empty stomach.
If you forget to take it with empty stomach.
Then wait until you take the food to eat it completely for a while.
Now mix this olive oil with little bit of lemon juice.

Blackstrap Molasses:

Blackstrap molasses is thick dark syrup that has been used by the few constipation sufferers to get rid of it. It is extracted from the pure cane sugar juice that has been boiled to concentrate and crystallize the sugar. Finally the third boiling results as blackstrap molasses in crystallized form and this blackstrap molasses contains many vitamins, minerals especially magnesium that helps a lot in preventing constipation. It is a chronic process & should be used occupationally.


Blackstrap molasses – 2 tablespoons
Warm water or tea (Optional)


Before you go to bed, consume blackstrap molasses everyday.
It has too high calories & can be used occasionally.
If you don’t like the flavor of taking it.
You can substitute it in warm water, milk, fruit juice or other liquids.


Figs are packed with full of fiber and acts as natural laxative which helps to prevent the constipation especially chronic constipation by taking it regularly. Here you can use both fresh or dried figs but remember that if fresh figs are available to you then eat them with their skin, as this skin contains most of the fiber and calcium which is also useful for treating the constipation.


Figs (either dried or ripe)
Milk – 1 glass


Take few figs & boil it in a milk.
Drink this milk at night time before going to bed.
But be sure that this milk is still warm when you drink it.
Eat the figs directly with their skin helps to prevent the constipation & gives calcium & fiber.
Use a whole fruit for this process is better than compared to syrups that are available in the market.
Or you can even soak 4 -5 dried figs in water during night time & eat it in the early in the morning with empty stomach.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda is an incredible versatile. It is bicarbonate which makes the air to come out one way or another helps to relieve pain from pressure. It also re-alkalizes the stomach to neutralize the acid & makes the things pass through your gut. It helps to prevent the constipation by its nature.


Baking Soda – 1 teaspoon
Warm water – 1/4 cup


Take baking soda in a bowl
Mix it well in warm water
Drink the liquid as quickly as possible
So that it gives a better prevention.

Epsom salt:

Epsom salt is an effective home remedy for constipation for two main reasons. First, the salt draws water from its surroundings, softening up stool and making it easier to pass. Second, the magnesium that is present in the salt promotes contraction of the bowel muscles, which also makes passing easier. Table salt can be useful in terms of drawing water out, but it lacks the magnesium that Epsom has, so try and use Epsom salt if possible.

You will need…
-2 teaspoons of Epsom salt (for adults) OR ½ teaspoon (for children)*
-1 cup of water or fruit juice

Dissolve 2 teaspoons of Epsom salt in one cup of water or fruit juice and drink all of it. If within 4 more hours there is no sign of bowel movement, you may take one more dose. Only use ½ teaspoon for children.

Spinach is having the property of cleanse, rebuild & renew the intestinal tract to regulate the bowel movement. It is recommended in both Ayurveda and Chinese herbal medicines to treat the constipation. So it is very essential to include this spinach in your daily diet. But make sure that if you have kidney problem then it’s better to consult your doctor to know whether you have to take it or not and also the quantity to cure the constipation.


Spinach juice – 100 ml
Water – 100 ml


Take spinach juice & water in equal quantity.
Mix it well & drink it.
This remedy is an old method used to cure the most stubborn cases of constipation.

Aloe Vera:

Aloe vera is a known medicinal herb for its soothing property. It not only soothes the minor cuts & burns but also soothes your stomach / tummy. So to get more effective results, you have to use the gel that has been directly taken from the aloe plant which is more concentrated than commercial juices but don’t exceed 2 tablespoons a day to get easy digestion and also softens the stools to have easy bowel movement.


Aloe Vera gel (from direct leaf)– 2 tablespoons
Aloe vera juice (brought outside) – 1 cup
Any fruit juice of your preference.


Take aloe vera gel & mix it with fruit juice.
Drink it early in the morning.
Or you can simply drink the aloe vera juice as needed.


Oils like safflower, soybean & other vegetable oils can help to cure the constipation as it has lubricating action in the intestine. This also makes the food to get easily digested and add bulk to the stool. This in turn gives completely relief from the constipation by softening the stools and making it easily to pass away from the body.

Lemon juice


Combine three oil directly by taking 2 – 3 tablespoons of oil a day whenever you have constipation.
If you don’t like to intake oil directly, you can mix it with other herbs, lemon juice or vinegar to use as salad dressing.
But make sure that not to take the oil daily as it result in gain of your weight pounds.


Oranges are rich in vitamin C and has lot of fiber which helps to have easy digestion, stimulate the bowel and prevents the waste accumulation in the colon. So, regular intake of 2 – 4 oranges everyday will help to cure the constipation problem completely.




Take two oranges & eat it every day.
One in the morning & one in the evening.
It prevents the constipation & gives relief from it by following regularly.


Honey is a mild laxative & acts as a soothing agent which helps to prevent constipation. It is high in calories. So, it is used occasionally but not daily.


Honey – 1 tablespoon
Warm water – 1 glass


Consume a tablespoon of honey for 3 – 4 times a day
Or you can simply mix it well with a glass of warm water
Drink it slowly to get rid of the problem.


Water is a most important one when you are suffering from constipation. This helps in improving our digestion system & promotes our health. So drinking water helps to moisten the intestines so that the bowel moves easily from body to outside.




Drink at least 8 glass of water a day.
So, hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water.


Grapes contain cellulose, sugar and organic acid which all these make it as a natural laxative food that helps to prevent the constipation especially chronic constipation. So regularly have fresh grape fruits throughout the day on daily basis to get complete relief from the constipation. You can also take grape juice that tones the internal muscles of the stomach to give relief from constipation through easy digestion.


Grapes – 1 small bowl
Fresh grape juice


Take a small bowl full of grapes & eat it regularly
Or you can drink the glass full of fresh grapes juice
Or Take 10 – 12 dry seedless grapes & milk
Mix it well & boil it for few minutes
Then drink this solution in the evening times
Or you can take raisins & soak it in water for a day or two
Eat that soaked raisins along with water on an empty stomach early in the morning.

Castor Oil:

Castor oil is derived from castor plant that helps to heal many health problems including this constipation. This acts as one of the fine natural stimulant laxatives that help to make the bowel contract and squeeze it, so you can easily and comfortable pass the stole. Here after using this castor oil you can expect the comfortable bowl movement within 4 – 7 hours.


Castor oil – 1 teaspoon
Warm milk or warm water – 1 glass


Take castor oil and add this either warm milk or warm water
Stir it well and drink this milk at night before going to bed
Or you can drink this oil mixed water to have free flow of bowel movement.
Regularize taking this to get rid of the constipation.


As we know that cabbage is rich in fiber which helps to keep the digestive tract healthy. It has mild laxative elements that stimulate the bowel movement through cleaning the stomach & intestines.




Take a cupful of cabbage juice twice daily before eating your meal
Or you can take in curry or fried form to prevent the constipation
Regular intake will give better results.

Fennel seed powder:

In Ayurveda, Fennel seeds play a main role in preventing the constipation as it known for its speedy digestion of food. This fennel seeds consumption increases the number of bowel movement and colonic transit time if consumed regularly for a week.


Fennel seed powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Warm water – 1 glass


Take warm water but not hot water
Add fennel seeds powder in it
Mix it well and drink it at night time before going to bed.


Guava is another effective fruit that has many health benefits in treating the constipation. It (pulp and seeds) has both soluble and insoluble fibers that help to make the stool to pass easily. This helps in the mucus production in the anus along with this it aids in contraction of the intestinal lining and finally helps in the smooth passage of food into stomach. So it’s good to include this fruit in your diet but before that you have to know the right way of eating this fruit.


Guava (not too ripe or raw)


Take a guava and have this with your breakfast
Make sure that if you’re suffering from the gastric problem then have this fruit after lunch and don’t eat this at night time.
Remember that while eating guava, you should not chew its seeds which cause negative impact on the people who suffers from stomach ulcers and also leads to constipation.
So first cut the fruit into quarter pieces and eat the outer portion which is seedless and close to the peel
Then have the inner portion of the fruit which has soft pulp with seeds
Never chew the seeds hard and chew them softly to make the pulp little softer
Eat this regularly to cure the constipation completely.

Oregon grape:

Oregon grape is an oldest remedy which is used from ancient times for occasional constipation. It is also enriched with fiber and other essential minerals that help to cure the constipation.


Oregon grape tincture – 1/2 tsp


Mix tincture in water
Slowly sip it before eating your meals.
